IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harmon Albert
Glover, Iii
May 7, 1938 – September 18, 2018
"Sleep after toil, port after stormy seas, ease after wars,
death after life does greatly please."
When we take the wires of a cage apart, we do not hurt the bird, we help it: we let it out of its prison; so it is when death comes to one who has suffered for the past three years. On Tuesday afternoon, September 18, 2018, Jesus, our precious Lord and Savior dispensed an angel of mercy to the Pineview Nursing and Rehab Center; room 419 to take the wires of the cage of sickness apart and tend unto him with haste and whisper to him these words- "Yea though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, fear no evil, for I am with you, my rod and my staff will comfort you."
In our humanness, we mourn at our loss; but in the realm our Christian spirituality and heritage we rejoice as we reflect upon the goodness of our Lord and Savior who made Harmon Albert Glover III and gave him to a beloved father and mother, Harmon Albert, Jr. and Annabelle Glover on May 7, 1938 in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was the only child of Annabelle Glover who passed away in 1941 and the oldest of three children of Harmon Albert Glover, Jr. and Sarah Farrar Glover. Harmon's religious training began in the home and the Rivermont Baptist Church where he attended with his family and friends. He also, attended the local schools in the area, graduating from Dunbar High School with the class of 1956. He enrolled at Howard University for one year and then he decided to join the United States Navy. After three years in the Navy he enrolled at Catholic University in Washington, DC. He received a B A degree in Public Administration. Harmon spent many years living in Washington, DC and later moved to Silver Spring, Maryland. He spent his career working for the United States Postal Services on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
After marrying his long-time sweetheart and constant companion, Daisy "Mozelle" Flowers, he moved to District Heights, MD where he remained until his death. Harmon and Daisy enjoyed dining out, visiting family and friends and talking about old times. Harmon was active in his community and enjoyed playing Santa Claus during Christmas holidays. He was a member of the Northwest Kiwanis' Club and served as president at one time. He loved television especially CNN and MSNBC which had the latest updates on world and local news. Harmon loved to talk and always had a story to share with his friends. He was a jovial, good-humored and cheery fellow who never had a loss for words. His presence always illuminated any group he was in; he always had a positive attitude.
Harmon had a great love of his family and enjoyed taking care of his parents, aunts, brother and sister and other relatives. He adored his cousin, the late Manson Brown and looked up to him as a big brother. Harmon remained very close to Manson's children.
Harmon is survived by his wife, Daisy, one uncle, Thomas Farrar, one nephew, Richard Anthony Glover, cousins James (Morrisa) Johnson, Beverly Duarte and Barbara Davis. Sisters-in-Law: Marjorie Cole, Margaret Martin and Johnsie Cash. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Marcia Glover and brother: Richard Glover.
