On the morning of September 13, 2022, Gracie "Minnie" Evans transitioned home into heavenly glory with family by her side. Gracie was born in Amherst County, Virginia, on June 1, 1927, to the late Elizabeth "Lizzie" Pennix. Gracie attended Amherst County Public Schools and worked at Jumbo's (Lee's) Restaurant for a while and many years as a caregiver for elderly families.

Gracie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Fairmount Baptist Church where she was a life member. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, supportive sister, favorite aunt to all, great friend, and a faithful woman of God. As you entered Gracie's home, she would affectionately greet you with "hey su-gar!" Gracie was loved by all who knew her and epitomized the love of Christ through her daily treatment and selfless giving to others.
