Gladys H. Lawhorne Townes, 84, of Lynchburg passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Gladys was born December 23, 1926 to the late Curtis and Mabel Mitchell Lawhorne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paris Townes; one sister, Viola Lawhorne Carter; two brothers, Norman and Norvell Lawhorne.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Helen Townes, Joyce Townes, Paris Townes, Payton (Jane) Townes and Clayton (Genara) Townes; two sister, Erner Royal and Hilda Lawhorne; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. The interment will be in the Archer Creek Cemetery.
