Mrs. Gladys Morgan Evans, 87 of Lynchburg, VA formerly of Appomattox, VA passed away on Sunday, June 7 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert Dabney Evans.
Born March 18, 1922 in Appomattox County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. Morgan and Dora Morgan. She was a lifelong member of the Canaan Baptist Church in Appomattox and attended Cross Road Baptist Church in Evington since relocating to Lynchburg.
She is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" E. Anderson and her husband Calvin V. Anderson of Lynchburg; one brother John H. Morgan of Appomattox and one grandson, Cedric J. Anderson of Lynchburg. Two sisters-in-laws; Ethel E. Johnson of Appomattox, VA and Odessa B. Morgan of Madison Heights, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by 3 brothers; Robert, Edward, and Hildred Morgan.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Al Baker and his associates at Lynchburg Pulmonary; all Centra Health staff and to her dedicated, loving, and loyal caregivers.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday June 13, 2009 at Canaan Baptist Church, 154 Wildway Rd. Appomattox with Rev. Stacey Younger, officiating and Rev. William J. Coleman as Eulogist. The interment will be in the Morgan Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
