Obituary

George William Christian III "Chuck", the son of Eunice P. Christian and the late George W. Christian, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA., was called to eternal rest with the Lord on September 21, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Christian Jones and Genevieve Christian Carter.

In November 1971, George courageously served his country in The United States Marine Corp where he completed duties in Okinawa, Japan and received education in Communications. He was a dedicated employee at Central Virginia Training Center for over 35 years where he will be greatly missed by many of his clients and co-workers.

George "Chuck" was a man who lived life to the fullest. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing along with creating family memories at Smith Mountain Lake. His infectious smile, joyful laugh and caring heart will be forever embraced by all who knew him. He was well respected for his strong nature and integrity. Most importantly, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Left to cherish his memories are his dedicated wife for over 26 years, Bernadette B. Christian; four daughters, Gwendolyn L. Gathers(Thomas), Kimberly C. Kinney(Donald), Latronda M. Burks(Ken) and Tonya L. Wilcox(Kenneth), all of Lynchburg, VA; and five grandchildren, Kentaz, DeAnte', DeMetri, Ken Jr, and Brookelyn. He is also survived by his mother Eunice P. Christian; Five siblings, Rebecca C. Pollard (Melvin), Frankie C. Andrews(John), Emma C. Barbour (Freddie), and Rodney B. Christian all of Lynchburg, VA; and Eunice C. Graves(Lawrence) of Woodbridge, VA; three brother-in-laws, Ralph Carter, Sr., Larry Hughes and George Saunders(Sheryl); a devoted nephew, Jerry W. Carter, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Peaceful Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Everhart, officiating. The interment will be in the Forest Hill Burial Park.
