George Joseph Read, the sixth child of the late James and Emma Read, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, January 29, 2016. He was born on April 28, 1930 in Bedford County, Virginia where he resided all his life. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three sisters; Mattie and Georgette Read and Gracie Read Clemont and three brothers; Almore, Eddie and William Read.
George became a member of St. John Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Hutter School in Forest, Virginia. His greatest joys were farming, hunting and fishing but most of all he enjoyed his family.
To cherish his memory, he leaves four nieces, seven nephews and his faithful niece and caretakers Barbara Clemont Anderson, Shelby Lee, Nichelle and Fred Anderson and Andre Jones of the home. He also leaves special buddies John Austin, Daryl, Wayne and Ronnie Durham, Edward Owens and a host of other relatives and friends.
