Evangelist Mary Frances Tweedy Anthony, slipped quietly away into eternal rest on Wednesday morning, September 21, 2016. She was born March 24, 1927 in Campbell County to the late Ike Tweedy and Polly Kent Tweedy. Everybody always called her Frances, Ma Frances or Grandma. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Tweedy; a daughter, Phyllis Flowers Jones, two (2) Sister-in-laws, Alberta Rosser and Nora Rosser and one (1) Brother-in-law, James Anthony.
Frances was married to William "Billy" Anthony for 62 years. She is survived by one son,William (Doretha) Flowers of Madison Heights,VA and an adopted son Michael Fleshman of Colorado Springs, CO; a foster daughter Michelle Mason of Winston Salem, NC; two (2) Sister-in-laws Alease Anthony of Rustburg, VA and Anne Anthony of Rustburg, VA; six (6) grandsons, Harold D. Jones of Lynchburg VA, a devoted grandson and caregiver Ronald C. Jones of Lynchburg VA, William E. Jones Jr. of Lynchburg VA, Corey L. Jones of Lynchburg, VA, Eric Solby of Omaha, NE, and William E. Anderson Jr. of Lynchburg, VA; five (5) granddaughters, Crystal J. (William) Ware of Lynchburg, VA, Tracie (Robert) Hendrick of Lynchburg, VA, Arletha F. (Clinton) Douglas of Lynchburg, VA, Angela F. Smith of Lynchburg, VA, and LaToyo A. (Brian) Farmer of Lynchburg, VA; 23 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren , a devoted life long friend Pastor Rosetta Jones of Lynchburg, VA, and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. The family will be receiving visitors at 1407 Ashbourne Drive, Lynchburg, VA.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Silver Grove Baptist Church with Pastor, Rev. William Glover, officiating and Pastor Jay Logan, as eulogist.
