On January 16, 2015, God sent down his angels for Eunice Pollard Christian. Eunice was born in Lynchburg, Va. on April 3, 1921 to the late Deacon George William and Mary Hill Pollard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Christian Jr., daughter Georgia C. Jones, daughter Genevieve Carter, son George W. Christian III; sisters Odessa P. Finney, Evelyn Harris, Imogene Lewis and brothers George Pollard Jr., and Ospronee Pollard.
At and early age, Eunice joined and worshipped at Mt. Caramel Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va. Eunice faithfully served on the usher board, senior choir, mass choir, the seven wonders, and the paradise singers.
Eunice worked at Randolph Macon Women College as a switchboard receptionist until her retirement.
Eunice "Bigma" Christian is best remembered by her family, friends, and church family for her Sunday tradition of serving homemade biscuits with hamburger and gravy.
Her greatest accomplishment was being a virtuous wife, loving mother, and a passionate caretaker to many. Eunice "Bigma" Christian enjoyed reading, praising the Lord, cooking, and walking the neighborhood.
She is survived by loving and devoted children, Rebecca (Melvin Sr.) Pollard, Frankie (John) Andrews, Eunice (Lawrence Jr.) Graves, Emma (Freddie) Barbour, and Rodney Christian, two daughter-in-laws Bernadette and Linda, Son-in-laws Ralph Carter Sr. and James Jones Sr.twenty six grand children and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Ford, officiating. The interment will be in the Forest Hill Burial Park.
