Obituary

Ethel Elizabeth Scott Beckham was born on August 1, 1938, in Campbell County, Virginia. She entered her eternal resting place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the age of eighty-six, at home with her family.

Ethel was the daughter of the late Clinton and Lillian Moorman Scott. She was the second child of seven children. At an early age, she was baptized and joined the Lawyers Missionary Baptist Church.

Ethel was educated in and graduated from Campbell County Public Schools in 1958. This is where she was voted the Quietest student among her peers.

After graduation, she relocated to Queens, New York, where she met and married Fred Beckham, of Gary, Indiana, on a blind date. Of this union two children were born. There she worshiped at St. Albans Congregational Church.

After living in New York for 20 years, Ethel returned to her hometown of Lynchburg, Virginia with her husband and children. Here she continued to fellowship as a faithful member, until her illness, at Lawyers Missionary Baptist Church.

Ethel was known by many for her love of the outdoors, including gardening, cooking, working puzzles, and sewing.

In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Forman, brothers, John, Paul, and Christopher Scott.

Ethel leaves to cherish her loving memories, her beloved husband, Fred of 60 years; a daughter, Toni Beckham; a son, Daron Beckham; and a granddaughter, Ashley Beckham. She also leaves a sister, Mary Scott; a brother, Dolland Scott (Cara); an aunt, Elaine Ramsey; an uncle, Thomas Wilson; two sisters-in-law, Sereta and Eloise Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

She will be missed by all who love her.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Interment will be at the Forest Hill Burial Park. A repast will follow at Lawyers Missionary Baptist Church. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
