Ernestine Womack Hamilton "Lump" answered God's call to eternal rest on November 1, 2013. She was born in Prince Edward County, VA on June 9, 1926. She was one a seven Children of the late Bert and Lillie Booker Womack of Darlington Heights, VA.
At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a member of Triumph Baptist Church in Darlington Heights, Virginia.
Ernestine married James B. Hamilton "Butch" in 1946 and moved to Mayberry, West Virginia. They were blessed with three children. Ernestine was a loving housewife and mother. She also helped raise several of her nieces and nephews.
In 1966 Ernestine and Butch moved to Lynchburg, Virginia. Ernestine worked at Bethune Nursery School and was a member of the neighborhood watch.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ernestine was preceded in death by her son, James "Jimmy"; brothers, Bert, General, William "Sonny" and Hugo; sisters, Elizabeth "Kitty" and Mildred.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Phyllis Twyman, of Alexandria, Virginia and Susan Townsend, (Henry), of Edmond, Oklahoma; a devoted daughter-in-law, Barbara Sheffield; faithfull friend, Josephine Harris, family friend, Richard Harris, eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
