IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Era Mae
Fitzgerald
February 8, 1944 – January 3, 2022
Era Mae Fitzgerald departed this life on Monday, January 03, 2022, peacefully at her residence. She was born in Halifax, VA on February 08, 1944, to the late Gus and Nancy Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lewis Fitzgerald; one daughter, Nancy D. Johnson; one grandson, Harold (Fitchie) Harris; two brothers, Thomas and Marshall Davis; and four sisters, Ansolona Coles, Dorothy Mae Anderson, Carrie Lee Reid and Emma Jean Davis.
Era Mae never looked for praises and she never was one to boast, she was just REAL…she spoke her mind…and was quiet at times, but always working hard for the ones that she loved the most.
Her dreams were seldom spoken of, and her wants were very few, and most of the time her worries went unspoken too. But what we do know is Era Mae had a firm foundation through all our storms of life, a sturdy hand to hold onto in times of stress and strife, a true Wife, Mother, Daughter, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. We could all turn to her when times were good or bad, but one of our greatest blessings was knowing she was there. I can tell you now 4 th and Taylor St. will never be the same. We will keep her name alive until we meet again. So, this isn't goodbye, but this is until we meet again, continue to rest in God's unchanging hands.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Harold and Edward Davis and James Fitzgerald all of Lynchburg, VA; three daughters, Diane and Lue Bell Davis and Evette Fitzgerald all of Lynchburg, VA; one son-in-law, Anthony Johnson of Lynchburg, VA; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a special friend, James (Mudman) Napier; a devoted great niece, Toria (Puddin) Davis; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held 2PM Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service with Rev. Michael Davis, Eulogist. Interment will be at the Forest Hill Burial Park.
