Elizabeth Anne Cobbs Wynn, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023. She was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on February 28, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Addison Cobbs and Sallie Clark. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Clark, and great-grandson, Greyson Davis.
Elizabeth was educated at Dunbar High School and studied at Lynchburg College. She worked as an administrative assistant at various businesses in the area. Gifted with the ability to play by ear, at the tender age of 12 she began playing the piano in church. As the years progressed, her ministry did as well. In addition to being an ordained minister of the gospel, she was the founder and leader of STAR ministries, "Standing Tall Against Rejection". Her last church affiliation was with Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Madison Heights, Virginia. Elizabeth especially loved working as a substitute teacher, fashion, shopping, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and drinking Dr. Pepper.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her five daughters, Gevetta Harris of Lynchburg, Virginia, Sheryle Chadwick of El Paso, Texas, Kimberly Moore (Garry) of Bluefield, West Virginia, Benita Megginson (Arnold) of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Sallie "LeeAnne" King of Roanoke, Virginia; a sister, Yuvonne Jones; 2 brothers, Fred Clark and Nathaniel Clark; 11 Grandchildren that includes 2 granddaughters, Kiara and Lastacia, and 9 grandsons, Caleb, Christopher, David, Dexter, George, Jeremy, Joel, Joshua, and Korrey; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Ms. Wynn will be on view one hour prior to the service. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
