Celebration of Life for Elburn Earl Sandidge "Squirrel"
Elburn Earl Sandidge departed this life January 23, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA. He was born November 29, 1947 to the late Oscar and Martha Sandidge and he was preceded in death by three brothers, Etwell, Fred and Thomas Sandidge.
Earl was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church Amherst VA, he loved to drive trucks, eat, watch television, walk and was an excellent telephone operator.
He was the husband of Deborah Sandidge for 40 years and to that union they had three sons, Corey (Veronica) Campbell, Price (Anita) Sandidge, of Madison Heights and Kevin (Tara) Sandidge , of Amherst VA; three daughters, LaToya Sandidge, of Madison Heights, Shelly Sandidge, of Amherst and Tara Cash, of Madison Heights; twelve grandchildren, Brion, Kiarra, LaTaja Smith, Kenisha Campbell, Demetri, Dominique and DeMontez Sandidge, Traivon Sorrells, Keyaunta Sandidge, Shanice Cash, Derrick and Malik Spencer all of Madison Heights; seven sisters, Shirley Garland, Deborah Sandidge, Doretha Cabell, of Madison Heights, Fannie Paige, Virgie Braxton, Betty Braxton, all of Amherst; four brothers, Rev. J.L. Sandidge of Amherst, Elmo Sandidge, Lynchburg, Wade Sandidge, of Amherst and David Sandidge, of Alexandra, VA and host of aunts, uncles and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2012 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. J.L Sandidge as eulogist and Rev. Rodney Harris, Pastor. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the residence.
