Edith P. Jones, 91, of Amherst passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Avante Nursing Home.  She was born March 19, 1926 to the late Sidney and Celeste Eubanks Page.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel William Jones, Sr.

She is survived by seven daughters, Betty (Paul) Blair, of Washington, DC, Annie Moss, of Madison Heights, Mary (Aaron) Rucker, of Evington, Pauline (Dennis) Jones, of Amherst, Grenda (John) Wilkes, of Lynchburg, Alberta (Mike) Sandidge and Shirley (Paul) Collins, both of Amherst; five sons, James "Wammie" (Phyllis), Samuel "Sam" and Larry "Nick" Jones, all of Amherst, Earl (Lisa) Jones and C. William "June" (Starr), both of Maryland; one brother, John Page; four sisters, Mary (Lloyd) Burruss, Lucille Campbell, Annie Powell and Marjorie Morse and a host other relatives and friends.

We give thanks to Avante Rehabilitation Center and Centra Hospice for all they have done.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 21, 2017 at First Baptist Church Coolwell, with Pastor Charles Frye, officiating and Rev. Ernest Scott, as Eulogist. The interment will be in the Church Cemetery.  Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
