Obituary

Earnesteen Louise Braxton-Anderson, beloved wife, mother, and community servant, passed away peacefully in Forest, Virginia, on March 6, 2026, at the age of 92. She was married to her devoted husband, Thomas Anderson, for over 74 years and together raised six children.

Soon after their marriage, Thomas and Earnesteen migrated North in pursuit of greater opportunities. During their time in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Earnesteen joined the First Baptist Church of Stratford, Connecticut, where she was a devoted and active member. Upon returning to Forest, Virginia, she resumed her membership at Saint Paul Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir until retirement. Earlier in her life at Saint Paul, she instructed Sunday School classes. Earnesteen continued to participate actively and faithfully in the church community until her health no longer permitted her to do so.

Earnesteen dedicated 25 years of compassionate service as a dedicated nurse’s aide at the Dinan Memorial Center. A natural leader, she also served as a proud union steward, tirelessly advocating for her colleagues and standing up for fairness and dignity in the workplace. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her work. She was an active member of the Girls Craft Club, supporting local charities and causes close to her heart.

Earnesteen was an exceptional mother who taught her children to value God’s love, family, and friendship. Her approach to motherhood demonstrated an individualized love for each child, as if each were her sole focus. She encouraged us to pursue education, develop a strong work ethic, and care deeply for others. Even after long double shifts, she always found time to give of herself, offering her undivided attention and love.

Earnesteen’s life was a testament to faith, family, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Earnesteen leaves to cherish her memory, her six children: Curtis Anderson (Cathy), Kenneth Anderson (Brenda), Debra Anderson, Charlene Anderson-Lee (late husband, Randy Lee), Angela Anderson, and Lisa Anderson.

She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Ruby Everett (late husband, Clarence Everett), and her brother, Curtis Braxton (Christine Braxton).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Braxton and Clara Braxton; siblings, Willie Braxton (late wife, Alma Braxton Calloway), Bertha Braxton-Soules (late husband, Robert Soules), Benjamin Braxton (late wife, Miranda Braxton), James Braxton, Garfield Braxton, Arthur Braxton (late wife, Flora Braxton), Duval Braxton (late wife, Bessie Braxton), George Braxton (late wife, Vivian Braxton), Nelson Braxton (Johnnie), and Theodore Braxton (late wife, Ann Braxton).

Her legacy continues through numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The Sisters and Brothers of Debbie Anderson would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your caring and support of our mother over the years. Your dedication is valued and appreciated. We pray God will restore those years to you in Jesus’ name. We love you!

We wish to extend our sincere appreciation to Linda Anderson for her assistance in transporting our mother to her medical appointments in Charlottesville, VA. Your contributions are highly valued, and we express our gratitude for your support.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at St. Paul Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Service of comfort entrusted to Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
