Dwane Bonita Sandidge, 54 of Amherst, peacefully went home on April 19, 2021 after his fight with lung cancer.
He was born May 24, 1966 in Amherst, Virginia, a son of the late James Earl Sandidge and Lucy Mae Sandidge of Amherst, Virginia. Dwane was preceded in death by his father James Earl Sandidge, Stepmother Pearlie G. Sandidge, mother-in-law Gladine, father-in-law Linwood D. Richardson Sr. of Amherst.
Dwane leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Cheryl Richardson Sandidge of Amherst; mother, Lucy Mae Sandidge of Amherst; 6 children, Nikco Sandidge (Tiffany) of Amherst, Conita Sandidge (Brandon) of Amherst, Cecily Sandidge (Walton) of Lynchburg, Jasmine Martin (Jerry) of Amherst, D. Tra Richardson (Alexis), and Cetrell Richardson of Amherst, 12 grandchildren Jhaill Harvey, Jakiran Sandidge, Jayceon Meekins, Jasiir Meekins, Janiaya Reeves, Daziaya Reeves, Demond Reeves Jr, Na'mond Sandidge, Tya Sandidge, Nikco Sandidge Jr, Tynesha Douglas, Naryan Sandidge. 12 brothers and sisters, James L. Sandidge (Francine) of Amherst, Margie Blakey of Amherst, Angelina Scott (Kevin) of Appomattox, Diane Sandidge (His Twin) of Madison Heights, Marilyn Glover of Madison Heights, Mike Turner of Amherst, Cheyenne Sandidge of Amherst, Carlos McDaniel (Jovannah) of Mexico, Monica Revely (Carlos) of Madison Heights, Monique Harris of Madison Heights; and an adopted sister, Barbara Canada; 12 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews; and friend, Oleeta Murray.
Dwane better known as "Jugg" was a fighter to the very end. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was employed by Modine Manufacturing, Buena Vista, VA. He was known as the jokester, the mechanic, machine operator, welder and the list goes on on. Truly nothing that he could not do when given the opportunity.
A man that never met a stranger, he would engage in conversation and lift your spirit. A giving and kindhearted man, never thinking of himself but always what he could do for his family and friends. Never a favor asked of him that he didn't fulfill. Yes, very outspoken and always standing up for what was right.
Dwane will live on through his children, nieces and nephews for the many lessons that he taught. He will live on through all of us for the light that he gave in dark times. His laughter, crazy jokes, grilling skills  and dancing that entertained everyone. He will live on through us all.  If you knew him than you gained some type of knowledge or skill.
Dwane we love you and you will be truly missed but your love will live through us all. May we all take a page from your book Dwane, on being kind, lending a helping hand and showing love to one another. Gone but never forgotten.
