Dorothy D. Smith, of 190 Angel Hollow Lane, Amherst, passed away Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born

Feb. 9, 1915, to the late Edward and Mary Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Barbara Tucker, Dorothy (Gerald) Thomas, Eva (David) Hardy and Elaine (Charles) Carter; a devoted grandson, Elvin (Lila) Smith, and a devoted daughter-in-law, Emma Smith; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. And a special thanks to the Home Recovery Caregivers.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday,Feb. 16, 2011, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service, with Dr. Charles Lewis officiating. The interment will be in Christian Aid Cemetery, Amherst.
