Quietly and peacefully, on Saturday, June 8, 2024, Almighty God closed the eyes of Dorothy Ernestine Brown Mundy. "Dot", daughter of the late Edward and Mary Brown, was born May 6, 1925, in Amherst, VA. During her early years, she was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church where she attended with her beloved aunt, Virginia Orine Brown.
In 1941, she wed Harry Junius Mundy. As a young adult, she accompanied her husband, Harry Mundy, who was serving in the United States Army, to Alexandria, VA. The union was blessed with three children, James Harry, William Edward, and Mary Ann. After the death of her husband, Dot moved to Philadelphia, PA. She met Boisie Broadnax. They conceived a daughter, Lorraine Munson. On her journey of employment, she came to love and claim as her own Stacey (Giza) Kelly and Rob Weiss.
Dot was predeceased by siblings, Jacob, Charles, Clarence, Edward "June", Delto, Virginia, and Maxine as well as her son, William; grandsons, Marcellus Mundy and Tony Lewis; and a daughter-in-law, Thelma Mundy. Left to cherish her memory are her son, James; daughters, Mary Ann and Lorraine; cousin/sister, Elsie Stewart; son-in-law, Thomas Munson; daughter-in-law, Sally Mundy; grandchildren, Beverly Rose, Yolanda Mundy, Thomas and Brandon Munson, Antoinette and Juliet Mundy, and Robin Lewis. She is survived by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Interment will be at Christian Aid Society Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
