On April 7, 2019 in the hands of her daughter Kim and granddaughter Talia, God called Doris Ester Miller Mitchell from this earth to her heavenly reward. Doris was born August 1, 1940 in Lynchburg, Virginia, to the late Cleopatra and Herbert Miller.
Doris was proceeded in death by Harry Lee Mitchell, Sr. (husband), Harry Lee Mitchell, Jr. (son) (Deborah), Yvonne M. Ebo (sister), Mildred M. Martin (sister). She leaves to mourn her death a devoted daughter, Aury Kim Conner (Billy); two sisters, Aileen Miller, of Brooklyn, NY and Evelyn Jean Hawkins, of Lynchburg; grandson, Justin Lee Rose (Shontel), grandson, Milan S. Conner, granddaughter, Talia A. Conner, four great grand children and a host of nieces and nephews.
Doris accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Diamond Hill Baptist Church. She attended Dunbar High School. Doris was gifted with the loving and caring for children along with a stern rule of discipline. She cared for children in her home for 48 years. To this day children from all over hold her dear in their hearts. Doris was a joyful and expressive lady. She loved a good time. Her personality was utilized in the usher and kitchen ministry here at Rivermont Baptist Church, where she attended regularly until her health failed. She often was called on to do the welcome on Sunday mornings where she brought a smile to your heart.
Doris was devoted to her family and especially to her grand children. She was a very giving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all and cherished forever.
