Doris Massie Jones, 70 of 592 Cherry Hill Road, Amherst, VA entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her residence after a long illness. She was born on January 8, 1942 in Amherst, Virginia to her loving parents, the late James Ellis Massie and Effie Sales Massie. She was a member of the St. Mark Baptist Church, Amherst, Virginia and worked at Central Elementary School for twenty-four years. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Neal) Jones and Wendell (Ellis) Jones, Amherst, Virginia; four daughters, Wanda (Bug) Jones, Robin (Scooter) Jones, Courtney (Dukey) Jones and Donna Jones all of Amherst, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, two great granddaughters; two sister-in-laws, Louise Brown of Baltimore, Maryland and Pearl Jones, of Amherst, Virginia; two aunts, Corrine Sales, of Amherst, Virginia and Rose Leevy, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one uncle, Loyd Pettyjohn, of Piney River, Virginia and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Piney Grove Baptist Church, Amherst with the Dr. M.D. Mays as Eulogist and the Rev. William Glover, officiating. The interment will be in the family cemetery in Amherst, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the residence 592 Cherry Hill Road, Amherst, Virginia.
