Doris Margery Daniel Otey, the daughter of the late William Henry and Fannie Reed Daniel, was born on August 31, 1918 in Madison Heights, VA. She entered into "Eternal Rest" on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Lynchburg General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Doris was a kind and compassionate woman who displayed a deep love for her family. Doris Margery Daniel Otey, was the loving and devoted wife of Lawrence Edward Otey, Sr. for 63 years, and leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing, her son, Lawrence Edward Otey, Jr. and his wife Barbara; one daughter, Peggy Estelle Otey; one sister, Vriginia Daniel Davis all of Madison Heights; three grandchildren, Shantelle Otey Hodge and her husband Roderick of Raleigh, NC, Shaun Otey of Washington, DC and Christopher Otey of Madison Heights; two great grandsons, Roderick Hodge and Jalen Hodge of Raleigh, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Sharon Baptist Church, Rev. Dennis Moody officiating and Rev. L.S. Otey as Eulogist. The interment will be in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the homes of Lawrence Otey, Jr. and Peggy Otey 135 and 147 Daniel Place, Madison Heights.
