Ms. Doretha E. Smith-Moore's journey on this earthly land ended on Friday, October 20, 2023. She was born February 6, 1942, to the late Sidney "Sunny" Smith and Mary Sue Smith. She lived in Washington, D.C. and worked for Howard Johnson, where she would later retire. After retirement, she moved to Lynchburg, VA. She was and still is an unforgettable soul.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert L. Smith and William Smith; two sisters, Mary Magdalene and Marion L. Booth; one daughter, Linda Brown; and her husband, Joe Lewis Moore.

Doretha is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Smith; 2 grandsons, Dominique Moore and Thomas Brown; 2 granddaughters, Crystal Austin and Tamika; two great-granddaughters; and four great-grandsons. She is survived by 3 sisters, Gertrude Payne, Constance Ware, and Corina Smith; brother-in-law, George L. Payne; sister-in-law, Dorothy L. Smith; loving friend, Wayne Key; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
