Obituary

Dolores R. DiLauro, a woman of deep compassion and vibrant spirit, passed away on April 1, 2026, in Virginia. Originally from West Haven, Connecticut, Dolores carried the strength of her unique personality, blending it with a grace that made her truly loved by all.

Her one-of-a-kind personality was all things: from loving to loud, from peaceful to forceful. It was a perfectly unique spirit because it was entirely hers. This intensity extended to her passions, especially her love of music. A talented musician and singer, Dolores was known for her pitch-perfect singing voice that could capture the heart of any room. Producing, composing, and releasing an album in 2007 Dolbar "U" was a great pride of hers. Dolores' spirit and home were a sanctuary for her many cats and birds, and she found great peace in feeding the wildlife that gathered on her porch.

For the last few years, Dolores shared her life with her devoted boyfriend, David. Together, they built a partnership defined by mutual affection and support. While her roots remained in the Northeast, she forged enduring friendships in Virginia that spanned decades, becoming a popular and beloved figure in her community.

Dolores is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Melba DiLauro, and her brothers, Vincent and Anthony. She is survived by her brother, Raffael, and her cherished cousins. To her eight nieces and one nephew, she was affectionately known as "Aunt Dee," "Auntie," and most importantly, the "Fun Aunt." Her legacy lives on in the music she made, the creatures she protected, and the unforgettable soul she shared with everyone.
