Dennis Wayne Megginson, Jr., "DW" or "D", 49, of Madison Heights passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital with loved ones by his side. He was born on May 10, 1974, to the late Dennis Wayne Megginson, Sr. and his mother, Martha Ann Franklin. In addition to his father, Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Dedric Shyheim Megginson; grandfather, Deacon Wesley Franklin; and paternal grandparents, James T. and Mamie R. Megginson.

DW was baptized at an early age and was a member of Fairmount Baptist Church. He enjoyed life by doing the things that he loved. His passions included cutting hair, car detailing, and other odd-end jobs working with his hands. He was a die-hard Indianapolis Colts fan and he loved music. He often referred to himself as R&B D. He loved life, he loved to laugh and was blessed with a gift to make others laugh. In other words, he lifted your spirits on any occasion. He faced many trials in his life, but he always found a way to keep it moving, even when he didn't want to. He will be missed by all. When you think of him, remember to smile.

Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Martha A. Franklin; grandmother, Kathleen "Nanny Franklin; daughters, My'Iesha M. Parrish of Madison Heights, Stardaja Cashwell of Greensboro, NC, and Tamiyah Megginson of Lynchburg. Sisters, Denissa Megginson and W. Michelle Adams (Robert) both of Madison Heights; half-sisters, Colletta S. Megginson and Veronica E. Megginson both of Lynchburg; stepbrothers, Nathaniel Herndon of Lynchburg and Andy Herndon of Rustburg. He had a special bond with his nephew, Gregory Megginson of MD. Cousins by blood but brother through love, Darren Jordan of MD and Ernest (Action) Harris of New York; five grandchildren; five nephews; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; five aunts; four uncles; the mothers of his children who gave him the four best gifts that he could ever have; Kishia Cashwell and Tiffany Taylor; and a host of family, friends, and associates.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Fairmount Baptist Church. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
