Delois Colmore Davis of Lynchburg passed away February 4, 2009 at Guggenheimer Nursing Home. She was born in Amherst County to the Late Leonard and Frances Smith Colmore of Madison Heights, VA.
Deloris graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1951 and was a member of Lovingston Baptist Church since childhood and enjoyed gospel singing; cooking dinners for her large family; going shopping and having lunch with her sisters and making people happy. She also retired form Virginia Baptist Hospital Housekeeping Department.
Those left to cherish her memories are five children, , Patricia Deloris Davis, Yvonne Elizabeth Davis, James E. (Helen) Davis, Shelia Mae Cash all of Lynchburg and Barbara Jane Patterson of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Geneva C. (Rev. Charles) Lewis, of Madison Heights, Shelva Eubank of Forest, Loretta West of Lycnhburg; two brothers, Nyal Lee Colmore of Woodbridge and Leonard (Hazel) Colmore, Jr. of Forest; a very close and devoted friend, Sharon Johnson Ware of Bedford, she spent many weekends at the home of the Ware's family and considered it her home away from home, and Sharon was known as her "other sister".11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 12 noon Monday, February 9, 2008 at Lovingston Baptist Church, with Rev Edward Austin officiating and Rev. Edward Jones, Sr. as Eulogist. The interment will be in Forest Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-8 pm at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at 2024 Georgia Ave. Lynchburg.
