Obituary

Our precious Deanna Marlene Banks gained her angel wings and peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus on Friday, April 11, 2025. Deanna was born on April 24, 1971, to Paige Braxton Banks and the late Roy N. Banks, Jr.

After graduating from Amherst County High School, Deanna continued her studies at Norfolk State University. Upon graduation from Norfolk State, she went on to enjoy a rewarding career in the Computer Science field.

Deanna was a faithful member of Saint Mary's Baptist Church in Amherst, Virginia until her health prevented regular attendance. A kind, compassionate, and giving soul, she gave freely to others.

In addition to her father, Deanna was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Virginia Braxton, and Roy, Sr. and Madeline; Aunts: Emma Jean Rose, Carolyn Parker, Rosalee Sandidge, Erma Jean Cashwell, Constance Canada, Thelma Jordan, and Lillie Mae Jefferson; and Uncles: Paul Williams, Ronald, Roger, Charles Edward, and Donnelle Banks.

Those who will forever cherish her memories are her Mother, Paige Braxton Banks; siblings, Phillip Banks (Augusta), Charles Banks (Angie), Maurice Braxton (Melanie), and Tracy Webb; Aunts, Dorothy Banks, Doris Williams, Barbara Dunkley, Mary McDaniel (Eddie); Great Uncle, Gerald Smith; Great Aunts, Ethel Smith and Shirley Green; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Deanna loved to travel, shop, and dine out enjoying a diverse array of dishes. But her all-time favorite past-time was spending time with family. She was a kind, caring, and loving soul with a generous heart who never thought twice about giving to those in need. Deanna's generosity will live on—not just with her family and friends, but through every life she touched. We will miss her tremendously, her smile and her infectious laugh.

A precious one from us has gone. A voice we loved is stilled.

A chair is vacant in our home, which can never be filled.

God give us strength to face it and courage to meet the blow.

But what it has meant to lose her, no one else will ever know.
