Deaconess Adell Martin Ballard entered into eternal peace on September 9, 2013. God said well done thy good and faithful servant you have fought a good fight now it's time to come to your heavenly home.
Deaconess Ballard was born in Sandidges, VA to the late Deacon Willie Massie and Deaconess Mary Martin. She was united in marriage to the late Deacon Warren Balllard for fifty-two years.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters, Elizabeth Smith, Sarah Anderson, Mable Carpenter, Althea Rogers, Inez Rucker, Catherine McGilvery and Gay Hunter and one brother, Massie Martin, Jr.
Deaconess Ballard is survived by three godchildren, Terri Williams, of Bladensburg, MD, Farlane Jennings, of Upper Marlboro, MD and Albert Henley, Jr.; seven sisters, Connie Rose, Emma Henson, Tearl Martin, of Amherst, Trudy Washington,of Madison Heights, Polly Jacobs (James), Shirley Corbett, of Suitland, MD and Verine Bowling, of Baltimore; two sisters-in-law, Vernell Smith (Fred), of Amherst and Lucille Blair, of Sewickley, PA; two devoted nieces, Kathleen Taylor and Mary Jane Frederick; other nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2013 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Harris, officiating. The interment will be in the Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
