Deacon Nathaniel "Nat" Carter, Sr., 76 of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010 at his residence. Nathaniel was born on July 30, 1933 to the late Luther and Mary Ruth Carter.
"Nat" was a Trustee and Deacon of MT. Hope UWCCC. He retired from Greater Lynchburg Transit Company after 36 years of service and continued working part time until October o 2009. "Nat" was also an entrepreneur of Carter Janitorial Service.
He most valued his love for his wife and family.
Those left to cherish "Nat" memories are his wife of 56 years- Ida P. Carter; four children, Nathaniel Carter, Jr. (Sheila), Vickie C. Anderson, Sharon "Shirl" Carter and Terri C. Elazazy (Mohamed); one sister, Dora Davis; eight grandchildren, Tashama C. Terrell (Craig), Tiffany M. Carter, Nathaniel Carter, III (Marika), Tabatha N. Carter, Tanisha S. Carter (Abraham), Sidney Azar Anderson, Samir Elazazy, Lalia Elazazy; five grandchildren, Brooke L. Carter, D' Andre L. Jefferson, Christopher T. Booker, Jr., Lauren M. Carter and Nikolas Carter; one devoted niece, Elsie West; two devoted nephews, Philip Kent Carter and Langhorne Davis; one dear friend and brother, John Robinson and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, May 24, 2010 at Mt. Hope UWCCC, 1185 Greenhouse Rd. Rustburg with Bishop John A. Campbell, Jr. officiating and Bishop Nathaniel Carter, Jr. as eulogist. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to MT.
