Obituary

Silently, so silently, Deacon Randolph E. McCrary, Jr. slipped away to peaceful rest on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in Lynchburg, VA.  He was the son of the late Randolph E. McCray Sr. and Bertha McCray.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Donald (Blue) McCray and Rev. Robert McCray; two sisters, Mary Gold and Ada Rucker.

Randolph joined Timothy Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until his death.  He was chairman of the Deacon Board, a member of the Senior Choir, Men's Chorus, Pastor's Aide, Treasurer of the Sunday School, Chairman of Deacon Ministry, Vice chairman of the Men's Chorus, Chaplain of program committee, Men's anniversary Committee, Member of Emergency Response Team, Member of the Rockfish Association, and former member of the Mt. Peeler's Men Chorus.

Randolph loved singing and listening to gospel music.

Randolph leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Joyce McCray; a son, Benjamin Porter; two daughters, Carol Franklin and Ramona Porter; a brother, Carl McCray; two sisters, Arelia (Wilson) Leftwich and Alma (Alvin) Dickerson; four grandchildren; a devoted grandson, Travis Porter; seven great-grandchildren, whom they called papa; eight sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; one devoted aunt, Ruby (Henry) Richardson; a devoted mother-in-law, Loraine Porter; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
