Deacon Garrett Davis Noell quietly answered the call of the Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2011 to a place of peace and eternal rest. Garrett was born on May 18, 1920 in Cifax, Virginia to the late James and Lillie Noell. Garrett was united in marriage to the late Lucy Crews Noell for over 50 years and to this union they were blessed with six children.
Those left to cherish his memories are three daughters, Ester Haynes, Rosa (Rev. Ray) Arrington, Barbara Spencer; three sons, Garrett (Susan) Noell, Jr., Tyrone (Mary) Noell and Carroll Noell; 12 grandchildren' 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; one adopted son, Rev. W.M Johnson; 2 sisters-in-law, Corrine Crews, of Lynchburg and Rosa Cooksey, of Alexandria; one cousin, Otey L. Noell, of Forest; three loving and devoted friends; Wendell Forrest, of Roanoke, Barbara Lyons, of Richmond and Mabeleen Noell, of Roanoke and many nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Oak Gove Baptist Church, Bedford with Rev. Aaron Payne officiating. Interment will be in the North Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service and other times at the residence of Ester Haynes, 1737 White Rd. Forest VA. Condolences may be sent to Davis-Turner.com.
