Sherman Booker, 63, of Rustburg, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2015 at his residence. He was born October 22, 1952 to Deacon Chestine Booker and Lucille Smith Booker. Sherman was preceded in death by his daughter, Sabrina Albert; one sister, Linda Booker and one brother, Matthew Booker.
Sherman was a deacon at Mt. Evergreen Baptist Church and he sang on the Men's Chorus and Senior Choir. Later he organized his own group known as "God Sent Angels". He loved to sing and was willing to help any group perform. He always ended his selection with a little dance to excite the people.
Those left to cherish his memories are wife of 30 years, Sandra Booker; one daughter, Sheree Booker; two sisters, Brenda Mitchell (Bernard) and Annette Mitchell (Rev. Willie Mitchell); two brothers, Carl (Marion) and Alvin Booker (Marsha); two step-children, Melissa Goode (Ronald) and Lewis Foxx (Camelia); eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Mt. Evergreen Baptist Church with Pastor, Rev. Bertram L. Davis, officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery.
