IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Danny
Sparrow
August 25, 1963 – January 1, 2023
John 14: 1-3 Says, "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
This promise from our Savior was fulfilled for our brother, Danny Sparrow, on the first day of the new year, January 1, 2023. Danny better known by his nickname, Buckeye, was born on August 25, 1963. He quietly departed this earthly life after a long illness. He fought a good fight, but in the end, he surrendered to God's will at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born to the late Madeline and John H. Sparrow, Sr., he was raised alongside his siblings, John, Jr., Tosey (Wife, Stella), Edward (deceased), and Mark Sparrow all of Amherst, VA; and one sister, Rhonda (Husband, Vernon) of Granville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roosevelt and Myrtle Sparrow of Amherst, VA, and Edward and Eunice Murphy of Arrington, VA. He also leaves to cherish his memory his aunts: Earlene (Husband, Chester) Thompson of Arrington, VA, Shirley Logan of Maryland, Nidia Murphy and Sylvia Murphy of Washington, DC; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Danny accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church, Pastor Jasper Fletcher. He occasionally attended Dayspring Christian Fellowship Church, Pastor Freeman Miller, which was in walking distance from his home. During the many phone calls, he had with his sister, Rhonda, he would share how God was blessing him and that he wasn't worried and for her not to worry either. When asked if he was having a good day, he would always say, "God woke me up this morning and I always have a good day."
Danny was a resident of Amherst County, VA, and attended the Amherst County School System. During the time he lived in North Carolina, he worked for Asplundh Tree Services where he operated heavy equipment and learned tree excavating skills. God gifted Danny with a great talent of working with his hands to make mechanical repairs on vehicles, lawnmowers, weed eaters, and many other things without any formal training. Danny occasionally worked for his brother, Tosey, and used this knowledge to work many odd jobs in lawn care until his health no longer allowed him to do so.
Danny was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Team, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and listening to country music. Some may remember seeing him riding around town wearing his favorite black cowboy hat. Danny was the happiest when he spent the day with his mother going to the grocery store and to yard sales. It was no secret that she was his heart and he made sure she knew it through his actions. Now they're together once again…mother and son. Danny will be forever missed; however, the memories of his life will not be forgotten.
