Obituary

Curtis Wilson Haskins, 80, of Rustburg passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was born February 4, 1937 to the late Ernest Haskins and Hattie Wynn Haskins.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Emma Marie Haskins; son, Ricky Lee Haskins; brother, Roy D. Haskins; sister, Nina Mae Haskins; sister-in-law, Alfreda Elliott Mondrey; brothers-in-law, Robert Calvin Baker and Earl Tweedy, Sr.

Curtis was a member of Silver Grove Baptist Church.  He was a business owner in his early adulthood of a convenience store call "High Hat" following he worked at BWXT thirty-four years retired 1998.  Curtis also provided janitorial services for area churches in Rustburg and he worked at Lowes from 1998 to 2000 and then worked at Rustburg Elemetary School retiring again in May of 2016.

He enjoyed traveling with his family and fishing, where he was president of the Community Fishing Club for over ten years.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Curtis L. Haskins (Cathy), of Rustburg; Nina H. Saunders (Stanley), Francina M. Haskins and Telly S. Anthony, all of North Carolina; adopted children, Alice R. Elliott, Joyce R. Smith (David), Charlotte Davis and Wayne Bailey (Kim); sister, Ernestine H. Tweedy; sisters-in-law, Vera King, Cathy Williams (Richard), Ann Haskins and Lorrie Ann King; brothers-in-law, James Russell Elliott (Doris), Carlton Earl Baker (Pamela) and Ronald A. Mondrey and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday January 19, 2018 at Silver Grove Baptist Church, Rustburg with Rev. Glover, officiating.  The interment will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service.  Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com .  Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
