Cornelia Elaine Ferguson, 86, of Centra Fairmont Crossing Health Rehabilitation Center, Amherst, VA departed this life on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.  Born in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late John Samuel Ferguson and Susie (Bernice) Wynn Ferguson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ferguson; her daughter, Gwendolyn Bates Stokes; her brother, Conley Ellis Ferguson and her youngest sister, Patricia Arlean Jordan.

Cornelia attended White Rock Baptist Church.  She became a Christian and was baptized at an early age.  She graduated from Campbell County High School in Rustburg, VA.  Shortly after graduating from high school she married Lester Ferguson.  Cornelia went to work at GE Ericsson until her retirement.

Survivors include son, Francell (Frank) Alvin Ferguson; two granddaughters, Jade and Jordan; one grandson, Brandon Marc Bates; one sister, Pedether Ferguson Wheaton; sister-in-law, Norma McCoy Ferguson; brother-in-law, Manley Ferguson, Sr.; nieces, Cheryl (Walter) Lowe, Catina (John) Ho, Aleta R. Franklin, Anna (Arnold) Fleshman, Jean Cobb, Yvonne Colmore, Lolita Glasper, Rowena Robinson, Elaine Greene, Cheryl Batts and JoAnn (Gerald) Mosley; nephews, Earl (Kitty) Madison, Warren (Josephine) Ferguson, Ronny (Anjeria) Davis, Arthur (Diane) Davis, Manley (Vanessa) Ferguson, Donald (Antionette) Davis and Michael (Monica) Ferguson and other relatives and friends.
