Constance (Connie) Marie Canada, of Amherst passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 at Centra Hospice House.
She was born December 8, 1948 to the late Madeline Watkins and Roy Norman Banks, Sr. Connie was preceded in death by sisters, Lillie Jefferson and Erma Jean Cashwell; four brothers, Roy Jr., Roger, Charles Edward, and Donnell Banks.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Randall (Cheryl) of El Paso, Texas, Kevin, and Delmar Canada of Charlottesville, a very special nephew, Quincy Jones of Madison Heights, whom she loved and raised as her son; two sisters, Thelma Jordan and Mary McDaniel (Eddie); one brother, Ronald Lee Banks, all of Amherst, an Aunt, Shirley R. Greene of Stone Mountain, Georgia; 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at St. Peter Baptist Church with Rev. Margaret P.C. Nelson, officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Mary and Eddie McDaniel, 535 Toytown Road Amherst VA. Connie will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service.
