Clinton Allen Watson
Clinton Allen Watson Sr, 89, of Lynchburg departed this life Tuesday afternoon, March 11, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Watson was born on March 21, 1924 in Bedford County, VA to the late Annie (Roach) and Joseph Watson. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Nathan, Clifford, and Oscar Watson; one sister, Anna W. Watts and a devoted brother-in-law Smith Scott.
He married and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rebecca (Marshall) on April 26, 1950. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Veronica Watson-Callaham of Lynchburg, Clinton (Bonnie) Jr. of Montross, VA, and Begita F. Watson of Atlanta, GA; Four grandchildren, Lavonne Callaham, Leanora (Daniel) Wilkinson, Joseph Girma, and Clinton A. Watson III (Trey); three great-grandchildren Danielle and Nia Wilkinson, and Kayla Callaham; three brothers, Fulton (Texanna) Watson, Thomas (Ami) Watson, and William Watson; two sisters Dorothy W. Cash, and Elizabeth (Edward) Jones; loving brother and sister-in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He served 38 years with C & P Telephone Company which is now Verizon, and upon retirement used his love for the outdoors and his gardening and landscaping talents throughout the community. He was a life-long member of Holcomb Rock Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board and the Brotherhood Club.
A funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Holcomb Rock Baptist Church, in Lynchburg, with Rev. David Stewart, pastor, officiating and Rev. William Johnson, as Eulogist. The Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 PM, Friday March 14, 2014 at Davis and Turner Funeral Services.
