Clinton S. Scott, Jr. of 2101 Georgia Ave. Lynchburg departed this life on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital after a long illness. He was baptized at an early age at Court Street Baptist Church. He was born in Lynchburg on December 27, 1946 to the late Clinton S. Scott and Dorothy T. Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Drucilla Scott Green. He was a graduate (1965) of Campbell County High School and after high school and college Clinton was drafted by the Army where he served nine years including Vietnam. Clinton later settled in Washington where he lived for thirty years. He was affiliated with First Baptist Church of Marshall Heights, Washington where he sang on the men's chorus. In later years he moved back to Lynchburg and worked at Virginia Baptist Hospital, Allied Cab and finally Lyn-Cag where he retired in 2007. For two years he attended Forest Level Baptist Church in Forest and later he came back to his church, Rivermont Baptist Church and sang on the Mass Choir until his heart began to fail. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Yvonne Scott; one daughter, Stacy Rochelle Scott; three brothers, Willie, Ronnie (Beth) and Heywood Scott; one niece, Chowan Green; four nephews, Ronnie Scott, Jr., Ben Scott, Andre and Dante Scott; three brothers-in-law, Harry (Delores) Mason, Harry McArthur Mason, and Robert Arthur Mason; two loving sisters-in-law, Mary Haynes and Clevonne Mason; a very special cousin, Dorothy Vanderhall, of Uniondale, N.Y., and a host of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to Lynchburg General Hospital for the wonderful care given to our loved one. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m.Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Rivermont Baptist Church with Pastor, Rev. Byron Elliott, officiating. Military rites will be given by American Legion Post 16.
