Clayton Smith was born on October 25, 1947, Son of the late Robert and Hattie Smith. He departed this life on July 31, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

He loved the Dallas Cowboys, the outdoors, and being a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Patti Smith, Charlotte Brown (Allen), Clayton Booker, Delilah Smith, Deanna Smith, and Breon Smith. Three brothers, James Smith, Sr. (devoted sister-in-law, Hazel), Curtis Smith, and Earl Smith; and one sister, Bernice Lewis. Devoted nephews, James Smith, Jr. and Brian Smith, Sr.; a devoted friend, Sam Bolling; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Flat Creek Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Family cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
