Mrs. Clara Bell Arnetta Payne Payne of 415 Patterson Rd, Rustburg departed this life on March 25, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 16, 1921 to the late Robert Henry Payne and Hallie Whitlock Payne.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley Payne, Sr.; one son, William M. Payne, Jr.; one sister Anita Jackson; five brothers, Milton, Carlton, Eustace, Robert and Lylburn Payne.

She is survived by one son, Linwood Payne, Sr. (Lucille), of Altavista; four daughters, Cynthia Zenj-Ra, of Forest, Phyllis Payne, of Altavista, Donna Johnson and Shelby Payne, both of Rustburg; one brother-in-law, William Jackson, of Washington, DC; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Payne of Gladys, and Bertha Payne, of Belleville, MI; fourteen grandchildren, Linwood Payne, Jr., of Decatur, GA, Diandria Payne, of Mount Vernon, NY, Tony Payne, of Charlottesville, VA, Adrian Payne, Martellus Braxton (Shanica), of Alexandria, Thandiwe Zenj-Ra, of Huntersville, NC, Kevin Johnson (Nicole), Faye and Annette Payne, of Altavista, Teresa Payne (Jerry, of Fairburn, GA, Lisa Branch (Ralph), Wiley, Glenwood and William Payne, III, of Newport News; three special grandchildren, William J. Coleman, II, Eric Scott and Carlos Mickles; six great grandchildren, Zachary Payne (Shayla), Diamonds Saunders (Ryan), Shania and Carmen Johnson, Amaya Payne and Da'Ja Johnson; two great-great grandchildren, Za`Nyla Saunders and Julian Payne; five nephews, Franklin Monroe (Ella), William Davis (Geneva), Rhon and Bruce Jackson and Richard Payne; two nieces, Veronica Pace and Carin Jackson; two very special people, Verneice Carcer who was a neighbor, sister and friend for over forty years and Thomas Braxton; a special family from Kentucky Carroll, Deborah, Timothy, Whitney, Brittney and Vincent and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday,
March 30, 2019, at Cross Road Baptist Church with the
Rev. William Coleman officiating. The interment will be
in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends
at the residence, 415 Patterson Rd., Rustburg, Va.
