IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christopher Ray
Scott
August 30, 1944 – April 5, 2021
On Monday, April 5, 2021, the master spoke to our beloved and said the day is done, your work is finished and now it is time to rest. Being obedient to the master's voice, Christopher Ray Scott, 76, passed peacefully at his home.
Chris, as he was affectionately known, was born August 30, 1944 in Campbell County to the late Clinton and Lillian Scott. He was a member of Lawyer's Chapel Baptist Church before moving his membership to New Vine Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and sang with the Gospel Chorus. He was a faithful member until his illness. Chris was a graduate of Campbell County High School class of '63 and served in the U.S. Navy. Chris retired from Babcock and Wilcox in 2008 after 39 years of service. He loved spending time with his family, singing, being outside, and working on old farm equipment.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his son, Eric Scott, a sister, Edna Forman; two brothers, John and Paul Scott, and a granddaughter Taylor Perdue.
Chris leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Sereta Hood Scott of 55 years; a daughter, Tonya Burke; a daughter-in-law, Theresa LaMotte; two sisters: Ethel Beckham (Freddie) and Mary Scott and a brother Dolland Scott (Cara); four grandchildren: Devon, Melody and Andrew Burke, and Rylee Lira-Grijalba (Erick); two great-grandchildren: Leandra and Emerson Grijalba; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pearson B. Alan Cancer center or Stroobrant Heart Center in memory of Christopher R. Scott.
A homegoing celebration will be held 2PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service with Rev. Darnell Tinsley, Eulogist. Interment will be in the New Vine Baptist Church Cemetery. COVID precautions will be in place. Please wear a mask. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
