Obituary

Charles Wood Loving, Sr. "Buddy/Buddy Love" passed quietly in his sleep Monday, July 31, 2017 at his residence.

Charles was born January 3, 1942 to the late Charles Henry and Georgia Wood Loving. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Pollard Loving; his son, Jessie M. Loving and his sister, Vernal L. Mills.

Charles attended and joined the Mt. Peeler Baptist Church at an early age and he loved participating in the church programs where he would sing and he sang with a community group called the "Harps of Zion".

Charles graduated from the Campbell County High (where he was known as "Footie) and attended Virginia State College. He was inducted into the U.S. Army and later he went to work for the Lynchburg School Board.  Everyone knew it was him when they saw the big blue truck coming, he retired after 42 years.   He was an avid fan of "In the Heat of the Night".  If you wanted to know what happened in a certain episode, all you had to do was ask him and he could probably tell you word for word.

Charles leaves to cherish the wonderful memories, his loving and devoted wife, Angela Smith Loving; five sons, Vincent, Charles, Jr., Anthony, Revenelle and Brandon; two daughters, Maria Loving and Samantha Loving; one-step son, Donnie Pollard; one brother, Rev. Allen (Catherine) Loving; one devoted sister, Beunice (Thomas) Nowlin; one aunt, Vergie Wood; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Deacon Alroy D. (Pearl) Smith; one brother-in-law, Mark (Denese) Smith; god-brother, Perry (Joyce) Porter; eighteen grandchildren; five great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
