On February 20, 1981, God blessed Charles and Mary Braxton with a beautiful baby boy at 8 pounds and 8 ounces of pure joy. They named him Charles Lemuel Braxton, III. When his great-grandmother saw his face for the first time, she said he looked like a “Little Man,” and the name stuck.

On June 30, 2026, the Lord called Little Man home, and it broke our hearts. Charles was survived by his wife, Virag “Angie” Braxton, and son, Maddox Lemuel Braxton; his sisters, Katherine B. Thomas and Martha Braxton; his nephew and nieces: Trey Hall, Celeste Messier, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Hall, and Victoria (Brian) Craig. Aunts, Daisy Jones, Dorthy Johnson, and Mary Johnson; and grandmother, Candis B. Braxton. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Charles L. Braxton, Sr., and maternal grandparents, Alexander Dewey and Emma H. Johnson; and Uncle MSG Frank L. Braxton, Sr.

In 1991, he graduated from Amherst County High School, where he played basketball, ran track, and was a cheerleader; during high school, Little Man and his friends created an all-black club called “Mahogany Alliance”. Little Man attended First Baptist Church and was a part of the Junior Choir and Junior Deacon board. In 2002, Little Man joined the US Army and made his life in Italy, where he met the love of his life, Angie, and raised his son, Maddox.

He made many friends, and a few enemies (maybe). The Sunday morning before he left for the military, he sang the song, “Jesus, you are the center of my Joy,” and that is how he lived his life. He was loved, gave love, and now he is gone but never forgotten.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Coolwell. Service of comfort entrusted to Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
