Charles W. Braxton, 75, of Amherst passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Fairmont Crossing Nursing Home. He was born January 20th, 1943 in Amherst to late Frank Toliver and Gracie Braxton. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Butler Braxton, Edward Braxton, Percy Braxton, Richard Braxton and Bobby Braxton.
Charles was a faithful member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Amherst. He was a strong follower of Christ who worked hard and provided for his family. During his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending quiet time relaxing outside on his picnic table. His favorite television show was Gun Smoke and his icon was Clint Eastwood. Charles was a faithful employee of Sam Massie and Thurston Wheeler for many years.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Virgie Braxton; two sons, David Braxton and Jamie Braxton, both of Amherst; six daughters, Lisa Braxton, of Lynchburg, Yvonne Braxton, of Amherst, Jane Megginson (Eddie), of Amherst, Amy Braxton, of Amherst, Farrah Braxton, of Lynchburg and Latashia Braxton, of Lynchburg; three sisters, Katie Spinner, Katherine Braxton and Georgia Douglas; Eleven grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
