Celestine "Toots" Statham Cabell of 5321 Pleasant Valley Road, Lynchburg, VA departed this life on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at her home.
"Toots" was born in Lynchburg on July 28, 1932 to the late Sarah and Douglas Duvall Statham, Sr. She was united in marriage to the late Alonzo Clifford Cabell, Sr. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwendolyn S. Stratton and Carol S. Layne. "Toots" was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church which she joined at an early age.
"Toots" is survived by three daughters, LaDonna C. Pennix (Cornell) and Beverly C. Thomas (Ardie) both of Lynchburg, Anna M. Cabell of Alexandria, VA and one son, Alonzo C. Cabell, Jr. of Oakland, CA; three grandchildren, Lauren Courtney Bryant (Erik), Ashlee Krystal Thomas, and Clifford Cornell Pennix; three great grandchildren, Kayden Alise Thomas, Erik Adam Bryant, Jr. and Jacovy Winchester Bryant; one sister, Aquilla S. Woodson and one brother, Douglas D. Statham, Jr. (Betty) both of Lynchburg, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Home Health, Home Instead Senior Care and Centra Hospice for the excellent care they took of "Toots" during her failing health.
Homegoing services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Carlton Jackson, Jr. officiating. The interment will be in Megginson Family Cemetery.
