Catherine "Carol" Davis, 89, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, April 1, 2010.
On October 18, 1920, Carol became the youngest daughter of Rev. Andrew and Betty Lacy. Carol had three sisters and four brothers.
After her graduation from Dunbar High School (1938) and attendance at West Virginia State University, Carol returned to Lynchburg where she met and married Rosser Davis on May 24, 1941. Together, Carol and Rosser created a life-long partnership of love, support and service.
After spending much of their married life in Washington, DC, where Carol worked for the federal government, Carol and Rosser eventually returned to Lynchburg to enjoy their retired life together.
Carol loved to have fun and to enjoy the company of family and friends. She liked to travel, shop, cook, play cards and entertain. She loved flowers and liked to spend time helping Rosser with yard work. She was a member of both Altha Grove and Wingfield Baptist Churches. Carol Davis was always happiest when she hosted family and friends for spirited games of bid whist.
Carol was the last surviving sibling of Rev. Andrew and Betty Lacy. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Nathaniel, Robert, Thomas and James and her sisters, Alease, Elizabeth and Christine.
Carol Davis is survived by her husband, Rosser Davis, of Lynchburg; her son, Ronald and his wife Estelle, of Tallahassee FL; her granddaughter, Tracy Davis of Lexington, KY; four sisters-in-law, Roberta Johnson, Orlando Lacy, Pauline Burton and Edith Stores, all of Lynchburg VA; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends
