Catherine Cox McCoy Davis, 90 of Lynchburg, Virginia peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord, Friday, May 31, 2024. She was the wife of the late Lowell W. Davis.

Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, June 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Willie Cox and Rosa Williams Cox. In addition, she was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Otey, and her sisters Pearl Price (Willie) and Thelma Kellark (Robert). A daughter Clevonne McCoy and son Cecil Davis (Kim).

Catherine accepted Christ at an early age serving at White Rock Baptist. Church. She later joined Altha Grove Baptist Church and served as a dedicated Deaconess and a faithful member of the Kitchen Committee until her health declined.

After 30 years of dedicated service at Central Virginia Training School she retired.

Catherine leaves to cherish in memory her dedicated children, Verleria McCoy Tankersley (James Tankersley), Candace McCoy Hartman (The Late James Hartman) both of Forest, Virginia, Sharon McCoy Riddick of Richmond, Virginia. Dennis Davis of Madison Heights, Virginia, Laverne Ransom, of Lynchburg, Virginia and Leslie Davis (Ramona) of Forest, Virginia; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Davis will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Altha Grove Baptist Church. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service.  The family of Catherine Cox Davis will receive family and friends from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 1212 Gilmore Circle, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
