You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she lived.

Ms. Carolyn Diane Franklin of Madison Heights, Virginia was called from labor to eternal rest on July 16, 2023, at her residence.

Carolyn, known by most as Diane, was born December 4, 1951, to the late Thomas Franklin, Jr. and Louise Jackson Franklin in Amherst County. In addition to her parents Carolyn/Diane was preceded in death by her sister, Velma Taliaferro; brother, Thomas Franklin; and life companion, Robert Carey.

Carolyn was educated in the Amherst County School System and continued her education to become a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant. She retired from the Central VA Training Center but also worked as an Occupational Therapist with Westminster Retirement Community and the PACE Community program. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and caregiver. She regularly prepared meals and birthday cakes for her family, bible study groups, and neighbors which she always served with her captivating smile. The life she lived was a reflection of her faith in Christ as she embraced the fact that only what you do for Christ will last.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her son, Andrae Franklin (Wendy) of Madison Heights, VA; three brothers, Bernard Franklin of Hampton, VA, Bruce Franklin (Anna), and Rodney Franklin (Rhonda) both of Madison Heights, VA; five sisters, Lottie Cabell (Allen), Maryland Robinson bother of Madison Heights, VA, Gloria Burford of Monroe, VA, Priscilla Hemmings (Stanley); and Sharon Haley (Steven) both of Lynchburg, VA; 3 grandchildren, Kameron Franklin, Jacob Coley (Raven), and Jordan Coley; 4 great-grandchildren, Ashton, Jaxson, Aniyah, and Ernest; 3 aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Scott Zion Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Andrae will be receiving family and friends at his residence, 174 Samson Way, Madison Heights, VA 24572. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
