In the early morning on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to visit the residence of Carlton William Herndon and take him home. Carlton was born in Rustburg on July 8, 1947 to the late Vance and Armelia Herndon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Alvin, Carroll Harris and Vance Aubrey Herndon.
Carlton was a graduate of the class of 1967 at Campbell County High School. He retired from the Archer Creek Foundry after thirty-six years of dedicated service.
He was a member of the Cross Road Baptist Church and served as a Trustee of the church form 1995 to 2003.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of forty-six years, Rhodie Nowlin Herndon; and two godsons, Michael Beverly, Sr. and Michael Beverly, Jr.; brothers, Norman (Anna), Calvin (Gloria) and Kenneth (Elaine) Herndon; sisters, Armelia Jane (Frank) James, Patricia (Larry) Gray, Delnora (Thomas) Johnson and Allie Herndon; sister-in-law, Bettie Walker; aunts, Carrie Clark, Loretta Beverly and Adell Scott and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.]
