IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carl Henry
Booker
December 5, 1947 – February 26, 2026
Celebration of Life
Mt. Evergreen Baptist Church
2:00 - 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, God saw our loved one getting tired, so he sent an Angel to take him home to be with the Lord.
Deacon Carl Henry Booker, the son of the late Lucille S. Booker and Chesteen M. Booker. Carl was born on December 5, 1947. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Chesteen Matthew Booker, Jr., Savate Matthew Booker, and Sherman Booker; and one sister, Linda Darnell Booker.
Carl joined Mount Evergreen Baptist Church as an early age, later in life becoming a deacon of the church and eventually becoming chairman of the Deacon Board. He attended Campbell County Public Schools. Carl worked for General Electric Company and Crown Simplematic Engineering Company for over thirty years, and he retired from Amherst County Public Schools.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marian Esther, and son, Anthony Stephone. One brother, Alvin Booker (Marsha), two sisters, Brenda L. Mitchell (Bernard), and Annette Mitchell (late Reverend Willie Mitchell). One aunt, Bernice Lewis; three uncles: Curtis Smith, Earl Smith, both of Lynchburg, and James Smith of Evington; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Carl cherished Marian and Anthony. He was a jokester and a comedian. He loved to make people laugh. Carl never met a stranger. Cooking was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved to have cookouts and to fix ribs on the grill. Carl planted big gardens and shared his harvest with family and friends.
Carl was a great contractor; he built his own home, with the help of his four brothers and brother-in-law, Bernard. They also built his sister, Brenda’s, home.
Although Carl was confined to a wheelchair at the end of his life, his family always made sure he was included at Super Bowl parties and cookouts.
Carl’s greatest joy was his family, and he loved all of them beyond measure.
