Obituary
Mrs. Blanche Smith lee of 211 Ash Street was called to her heavenly home on Friday, May 1, 2009, at The Oaks of Lynchburg. She was born in Bedford County on February 24, 1936 to the late John A. and Mary L. Smith.
She was preceded in death by her sister Leila S. Jackson
Blanche was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1954 and she worked at General Electric for many years from which she retired. Blanche was a member of Rivermont Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Derrick Lee and his Wife Lamonica of Silver Springs, MD; one grandson, Jordon Boyd of Portmouths, VA; two aunts, Marva Blair and Odessa Withers; one uncle, Leroy Smith; three devoted nieces, Renita Jackson, Barbara Jackson and Angela Jackson; one nephew, Richard Jackson, Jr.; five devoted friends, Benda Mack, Willie Mae___, Mildred Smith, Claine Calloway and Brenda VanFossen; devoted cousin, Elizabeth Grooms and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Funeral service will be held 2:00 Friday, May 8, 2009 at Rivermont Baptist Church with Rev. Womack officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. In Lieu of Flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
